Registered 9 years agoI've an unofficial Xbox wireless gaming receiver which works with my android tablet but fails to work on my PC as Windows can't find the driver software. I have tried using guides which have mentioned downloading the drivers of Microsoft's website and doing it manually but I get a code 10 error when doing this. Please could anyone offer some help. - CyborgD 19 Jan 2013 00:27:10 23 posts

Registered 8 years ago1. Device manager
2. Right Click on 'Unknown Device' or remove the drivers first so that it appears as Unknown Device.
3. Click Update Driver Software
4. Browse Computer for Driver Software, DO NOT CLICK AUTOMATIC UPDATE.
5. Click on 'Let me pick from a list of Device Drivers on my computer'
6. IMPORTANT, go down to 'Microsoft Common Controller For Windows Class'. Highlight and click next.
7. This list varies by machine and i cannot be 100% sure but you should have a bunch of drivers in this list referring to your receiver, i actually have to use the 'XBOX 360 Controller For Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [13/08/2009]' driver to make it function and find my controller. (Getting this to appear requires that you first install this official microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories Software 1.2, http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-gb/d/xbox-360-wireless-controller-for-windows)
Go through and use my method first, if that doesn't work then try the other drivers after removing the previous one first. Good luck and tell me what you find if you can.
Edit: I'm using windows 7 64bit.

Registered 9 years agoThank you kindly for the reply. I did try the above method to no avail although I didn't try the other drivers. I was leaning towards the problem being with Windows on the PC as opposed to the hardware itself

Registered 8 years agoThank you Cyborg D! Your guide just made my wireless reciever work. Just out of curiosity why are you using an unofficial one and not the one made by Microsoft? I have the MS one and all xbox stuff seamlessly works with Windows, no download etc required.
Or just a case of you just so happen to have it knocking about. Not a dig i am just wondering if advantage to using unofficial ones.

Pretty much this. Personally, I didn't think there would be too much of a difference and assumed a non official one would work just fine
I think the advantage is monetary. - jonsaan 18 Apr 2013 21:06:47 27,052 posts

Registered 14 years agoWe have the ms 360 wireless reciever thingy for Windows and the bastard thing would not install no matter what I did. Eventually I discovered it was something called joytokey that was over riding it that my son had installed. As soon as I removed that..bingo. - Nekator 20 Apr 2015 00:56:44 2 posts

If the light doesn't even come on it may have blown a fuse.
I've had 2 receivers blow the fuse over the years. It supposedly helps running it through a powered USB hub but still, mine didn't last. I managed to repair one but destroyed the other.
On the other hand my kids have one each and had no issues so it may just be motherboard dependant.

When i had win7 ultimate, the receiver would be noticed. but when i went to shut down my cpu and start it back up, my pc didnt see it anymore. and it would literally be random when it would work. at one point whenever i plugged my wifi usb (linksys AE2500)in and pulled it out thats when my pc would nitce it and not notice it. like it had something to do with the Linksys AE2500 usb????? idk just now my pc wont see it at all. - joeaho 8 Sep 2015 03:55:26 6 posts

Registered 5 years agoI got the adapter open and i dont see any hot spots on the circuit board.
And tested the fuse(with the link u showed me) and am still getting continuity. so the fuse is still good.

Wireless Gaming Receiver Software Download
Yesterday I finally recieved the S Wheel! My expectations where mixed, because of the reviews here. Strangely there are no good previews yet or a comparison with the X360 wireless wheel. Previous I had an Xbox 360 with wireless wheel, which was great. Therefore I had to get it, even though it is not cheap. Free Download. Microsoft outlook update mac mojave 2017. The package provides the installation files for Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver Driver version 2.1.0.1349. If the driver is already installed on your system, updating (overwrite-installing) may fix various issues, add new functions, or just upgrade to the available version.
